>>  December 14th, 2007: More tracks re-uploaded

Just to let you all know, I've continued re-uploading my tracks that were lost due to the circumstances mentioned in my prior news post. Additionally, I've done some minor, and in some cases, fairly major re-mastering on all of them as I've reuploaded them. So, while this is definitely taking more time than it would if I just simply uploaded them again, the benefit is much better sounding tracks... I've been meaning to remaster all these old tracks and I simply haven't gotten around to it, so at least this situation kinda forces me to do it. Anyway, I will continue to upload them as I finish with them. Make sure you download them again if you already have copies. You will notice a difference, for sure... especiailly with the older ones. Enjoy!

 >>  November 20th, 2007: Problems with Audiostreet.net

I apologize for the fact that the vast majority of the links to my music are currently unavailable at this point in time. I am currently working to resolve this. But, before I end this post, let me fill you in on what happened exactly.

I use a website called Audiostreet.net for hosting my tracks. One of the cool features about this site is the fact that you can leverage "deep-linking" when you are a paying member, and thus transparently use the links for streaming and downloads from your own site and it will both transfer the data from audiostreet, but also help your stats on their website as well.

Well, it's worth pointing out that I've been a paying member of their site for nearly two years... Never missed a payment, no issues. Everything has always been great, save the rare hiccup in their service. However, recently, due to a minor issue with my bank (I attempted to pull out an amount of cash that exceeded my daily limit because I forgot what it was and was trying to make a purchase from an ad that I found on Craigslist)... my checking account was temporarily locked down because they thought my card had been stolen.

So, this led to my audiostreet.net payment happening to fail during the small window of time that my card wasn't working. I wasn't notified, however, and was entirely unaware of the problem. That is, until I started recieving an alarming amount of mail relating to the fact that the links to my music from my site were broken. I logged into audiostreet to see what the matter was, only to find that they had downgraded my account to a basic account, meaning the maximum number of songs I could host with them was reduced from 50 to 3.

Figuring this would only be an issue until I resolved the payment that was still due, I signed back up, only to find, to my horror, that in this short period of time, they had deleted all record of the tracks I'd hosted on there over the years, meaning that all of the numerous places that I had used the links were now broken until I sought them all out and replaced them with new ones. Not only that, but the fairly favorable statistics I had acquired over the years on their site were destroyed, as all of the listen count and rank data for the tracks were also gone, of course.

Now, it'd be one thing if I had been in a delinquent state of non-payment for months, or if I was a newly signed up member that had no history of reliable payment. But to vaporize the benefits I had gained from years of service with them without warning, in what was less than a week's time, from what I can tell, is repugnant. Not only that, but my inqueries to them for technical support on the matter, or at least some understanding of why they employ this practice have gone completely unanswered. So, I've given up and will be re-uploading the tracks to their site... until I can find a hosting source that I consider to be more reliable and worth my dime.

So, while I'm still paying for their service in the interim, I would highly recommend that any aspiring artists out there find a different site to host their music on. The people that run this site clearly do not have much concern for their users, let alone long-standing paying users. And, I can be sure they know exactly who I am, as I won their Race to Fame contest a while back... which was a debacle to say the least, but I won't go there.

I'm not one to usually post something like this, but this is the kind of site that is supposed to take personal interest in supporting the musical careers of their members, and this kind of nonsense makes it quite clear that they certainly lack this interest.

I am in the progress of reuploading my tracks and will keep you all informed on the status of these matters. Thanks for your support!
